Recycled Warmth Project – Season 2
Join Us We Need Your Help
We collected unused clothes from the blanket factories to make new comforters. We manufactured comforters and distributed them to families in need, and employed daily workers, who lost their jobs due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The purpose of manufacturing comforters instead of buying ready-made ones was to significantly reduce cost compared to the market price of comforters, provide employment to locals, and promote recycling.
The Winter comforter production and distribution project ran in Bangladesh in 2020 and 2021.
Most of us sleep in our warm beds but many people around the world sleep in cold homes without even a blanket to cover themselves. Poor citizens of Bangladesh, who cannot afford blankets during the winter tend to get sick and there are fatalities every winter. Sponsoring a blanket was the price of a U.S. coffee at $3.33 a blanket!
With this project, we accomplished a few goals:
- Promoted recycling in an area where recycling is not a common practice
- Created 100 jobs for males and females (80 F + 20 M) and 50 plus widows
- Provided 107,000 blankets across 67 locations in Bangladesh in rural and underserved communities
We succeeded here with your support!
